CROSS CANADA RELAY FOR YOUTH AND SCHOOL PERSEVERANCE

posted Dec 7, 2015, 9:37 AM by Rosanne Collett
Former physical education teacher, Steve O'Brien, has been traveling across Canada in an effort to raise awareness for the importance of staying in school, perseverance and the value of physical activity for youth. His CROSS CANADA RELAY FOR YOUTH AND SCHOOL PERSEVERANCE started in Victoria, B.C. on April 12th and will finish in St. John’s, NL on Tuesday, December 8th. Our students and staff will celebrate this amazing accomplishment this Tuesday as Steve makes a detour onto  our school parking lot before he proceeds towards MileOne. This will happen around 12:35p.m. and we ask that our students dress warmly on this day.

What is unique about Steve’s journey is that he has traveled using his own physical power utilizing many styles of transportation which have included walk, run, bike, in-line skate, scooter, long board, pogo stick, cross country ski, snow shoe, adapted-bike, and wheelchair.

We are looking forward to being a part of his “Magical Journey” as Steve races towards the finish line!
