Dear SME Families:

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! I hope you enjoyed a summer vacation filled with fun and exciting times with your loved ones. We are thrilled to welcome all students to St. Mary’s for new school year of learning and growing.

I am privileged to be returning as Principal again this year. Over the past two years, I have had a chance to get to know you and your children, and look forward to building ever stronger relationships with all of you in the upcoming year. As we enter this new school year, I want to let you know that our staff will be engaging in conversations around having a growth mindset, both for themselves and all students. We believe that every person in this building is capable of both personal and academic excellence.

I want to personally invite you to attend our Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 20 from 7-8 p.m. This will be a great time to strengthen our SME community, meet teachers and other families, and learn about the upcoming school year. We would love to see every family represented next Thursday!

As always, please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns. Wishing you all a happy and successful school year!

Hi my name is JT and I was principal for a day! The first thing I did was morning duty. I waited outside greeting students on their way in. After that Emma in grade 4 and I did the morning announcements (it was sorta scary). After, Ms Collett called a cab to take us to Coleman's in Mount Pearl. We picked up a $500 cheque from a program called "Kids Get Active". The cheque is paying for our upcoming baseball tournament. When we got back I went outside for recess duty. After recess I tweeted about Coleman's and checked the supply lists for next year. Soon after that was my favorite part of the day, LUNCH! Ms Collett took me and my friend HB out to McDonald's!!! Hannah and I got a chicken happy meal and ice cream. Ms Collett got a big mac and fries. When we got back I read the Three Little Pigs and the Somewhat Bad Wolf to the  grade ones. And here I am now writing this article about my day.  This was the best school day ever!!!
