Nicholas Edwards in Gr. 6 has produced a four minute video on his Heritage Fair project as an entry in the National Young Citizens program. From June 11th – July 5th a large vote is taking place across the country to determine which videos are among Canada’s favorites. Nicholas’ video is posted publically and you have an opportunity to vote so that he could win a trip to Ottawa to represent our school and our province! You can start voting today and share the video with your friends and family so they can vote too! Every vote counts!!!

CBC Morning Show Community Clean-Up!

SME has signed up for the CBC Morning Show 15-minute Community Clean-up!
On Friday, June 5th our school will be participating in a school grounds clean-up  from 7:50 a.m. – 8:05 a.m. At 7:45 a.m. families will meet at the main entrance of the school to sign up and get their garbage bags/gloves. Following clean-up students will receive a light breakfast snack. Looking forward to another awesome family event at St. Mary's! Let's spring into action!

DRUM ROLL!!!! We raised $6 672.10 for The Heart & Stroke Foundation’s JUMPRope fundraiser! As of now, we are one of the top schools in the province! Awesome job everyone! Thank you for your generosity and wonderful support!

Online Kinderstart/Kindergarten Registration

The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District will be using an online registration process for the English Kindergarten and Early French Immersion Kindergarten programs. Children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2016 in order to register. Please note this registration process is for the 2015-2016 KinderStart children who will be in Kindergarten in 2016-2017.

 

Please note that online registration is required for all areas of the province this year. For the Eastern Region, online registration will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13th and remain open until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14th, 2015. This includes St. Mary’s Elementary.

 

Registration will take place on the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s website www.nlesd.ca. These times will be for those registering for both English and Early French Immersion programs.

 

You will need the following in order to complete an online application:

•    An MCP number including expiration date;

• An email address in order to receive confirmation of receipt of your application;

• Phone contact number and an emergency contact phone number; and,

• An Internet ready device.

 

To complete the registration process, proof of address and confirmation of MCP number must be provided in person at the designated school on or before May 29, 2015.

 

Any parents/guardians requiring Internet access or technical support may visit their zoned school during registration times for assistance. Please contact your zoned school to arrange assistance during the registration process.

 

JUMPRope Kickoff!

Our students will take part in the Heart & Stroke Foundation’s JUMPRope kickoff tomorrow, Tuesday, April 21st at 1:00. Pledge forms & student activity booklets will be sent home to inform parents/guardians about the program. which focuses on physical activity and living a healthy lifestyle. All funds raised through this pledge based program go toward heart disease and stroke research and education. There will be a number of jump rope  activities planned at the school over the next 3 weeks. 

Earth Day Assembly!

Our Grade 5 students will be hosting an Earth Day Assembly on Wednesday, April 22nd at 11:00. Parents/guardians are invited to attend.
